WFC undertook a major refurbishment of the Guild of Students’ facilities in 2010. This included providing retail, bar, club, catering and meeting facilities over an 18 month period, working around term times and maintaining a workable provision for the Students at all times.
Andy Stone MCIOB – Senior Project Surveyor at University of Birmingham commented:
“WFC were appointed as principal contractor to complete a major 3 million pound project redevelopment of our iconic Guild of Students ‘Union’ building.
They excelled in delivering a project principally relating to building refurbishment and specialists fit-out works within the constraints of an occupied period building requiring high quality and sensitive construction detailing to satisfy the university design objectives, the local authority planners and building regulation requirements.”
“As well as general building and finishing works the scope of the project included a specialist bar and restaurant facility with both an internal and a canopied external dining terrace facility, new main reception with bespoke counter fit-out and lounge areas, a nightclub and booking hall with bespoke fit-out, a retail shopping mall and fit-outs, the provision of various administrative and financial student facilities and a large external recreational area comprising raised decking, connecting glass entrance structures from decking to both bar and reception areas, glass balustrades, covered seated dinning areas, permanent Gazebos’ and external lounge furniture together with the full restoration of an ornate feature fountain and new external lighting design.”
“I would have no hesitation in recommending this contractor for any future project works.”
