Diva Beach was a new venture for Jerbourg Ltd. The internal fit-out of the basement venue, situated on what is known locally as ‘The Beach’ in the heart of Chelsea, was inspired by Miami’s South Beach.

With a brief to create a light and spacious interior for this subterranean venue London based designers Grapes Design sought influence from both Miami’s 1930’s to present day sophisticated beach culture.

Diva Beach features VIP areas and a champagne lounge with bronze mirror backdrops, white leather day beds and a stunning crystal chandelier centrepiece. The rooms are back lit with colour changing low energy lights linked to the music system which adds to the seductive atmosphere of this boutique club.

High quality finishes were used to create a luxurious and sophisticated interior using a variety of materials. Specialist glass tiles, sourced from Italy were used to create a bespoke blend of mosaics, a dominate feature of the venue. Other elements included shimmer fabric screens which were sourced from the USA.

WFC project managed the whole contract and undertook all fitting-out; joinery for the bespoke reception, bars and furniture were developed and pre-fabricated at WFC’s 30,000 sq ft workshop.

Key to the success of this project was the co-ordination of all contractors in a space which had limited access.

Ian Moore, Project Manager commented: “This was a challenging site due to the busy location opposite a hospital and where our only access into the basement venue was a narrow staircase. Attention to detail was paramount to this job, especially the bespoke furniture we produced in-house which required exacting, high quality finishes.”

Commenting for Grapes Design, Darren Grapes said: “Being involved in the furniture design was one of the keys to creating a spacious interior. WFC custom-made the furniture which included deep-buttoned suede lounge chairs and highly lacquered tables which added to the overall bespoke feel to the venue.”
